August 31st, 20228/31/2022 Baby Butterfly has been doing well. We did just switch her off of donkey milk and goat's milk to milk replacer. I don't have enough goat milk to feed her for 4 to 5 months, so we made the switch. So now I'm just watching to make sure she's feeling well and pooping and peeing as she should.
Today was their first day out of the barn and they both seemed quite pleased. Butterfly even played a bit. She's being fed every 4 hours around the clock (just switched from 3 to 4 today). She seems to be staying full, which is what we want.

August 31st, 20228/31/2022 Phoenix is the last boy from Everly's litter still here. His litter mates have all left for their new homes. Phoenix has stood out to me since the beginning, as just being so chill and relaxed. He's going to be a big boy I believe, most likely around 70 lbs, and he really craves just being with "his person". He is AKC registerable. He is 10 weeks old today. Please write us if interested in knowing more about him.

August 29th, 20228/29/2022 I should have written this yesterday, but exhaustion took over.
Mama Lady Bug and baby Butterfly are doing well. Mama is feeling better and Butterfly is drinking from a bucket really well. I fed her every hour to 2 hours the first 48 hours, now I'm doing every 3 hours. It's been quite exhausting but rewarding. I'm thinking I'm not going to get them going as baby nursing mama, but I'm still trying. They love each other so that is good. Here is a picture of Butterfly-

August 28th, 20228/28/2022 I know not many people are following this but I still feel bad for not updating Esther's puppies sooner.
They are doing great. We sure enjoy them. I hadn't had time to spend with them like I wanted to the past few days so I really enjoyed today... sitting with them and watching them. If they are reserved, their pictures say. Otherwise they are still needing a family.

August 27th, 20228/27/2022 These are times I rely heavily on my FB Farm Family. And I can't reach them. Yesterday we had a heavily bred mini jenny arrive. She came (along with a couple others we found homes for) from a small farm in TX whose family's property burned in the wildfires down there. So they had to sell their mini donkey herd. Anyway, I prayed nonstop that Lady Bug would make it here without foaling. When she stepped off the trailer yesterday I knew it would be last night that she foaled. For some reason my monitor didn't got off, but I woke up right around midnight to a new foal. Mama was doing a good job and baby was moving around, trying to stand. I decided to just let them be for a bit. About 45 minutes later baby was up but just standing against the fence, so I went out. She was cold so I dried her more and then milked mama and gave her some colostrum. I tried to get her to suckle from mom but she had no suck reflex, which I do find sometimes in foals that are a bit too cold. This morning she still had not nursed and she was holding her head up like she was looking into the air. So I did the madigan squeeze but it didn't seem to reset her (this was after 2 hours of working with her). Then we did it again about thirty minutes later. Still seemed to have done nothing. I called the vet, she just said do all I could to get baby to nurse, as we wanted to avoid a feeding tube. When I went back out to milk mama more and syringe feed baby, the baby actually had a suck reflex! I praised God for this change. However, then mama didn't want to be messed with, so I left them for an hour until I got some help. Baby's suck reflex has gotten stronger all day and mama has relaxed again, however she doesn't seem to feel great. I have been syringe feeding baby colostrum all day (every 60 to 90 minutes) and then also trying to get her to suckle mama. Baby seems to have decided I am her mama and Lady Bug loves her but seems to feel bad enough, she's not overly motherly. My heart is breaking as this jenny has been through so much the past 10 days... and this baby, I'm doing all I can but I've lost many like this in the past... so I'm riding on prayer. If you read this, please pray for both Lady Bug and baby. And in other news, our rescue (needs a name) also arrived. She may be the sweetest jenny I've ever met. But she definitely doesn't feel the greatest either, but she has perked up as the day has went on.

August 26th, 20228/26/2022 Well my puppy pictures set off the FB police again. This time for 6 days though they seem to extend that at their own will. I have so many thoughts on this but its probably most polite to keep them to myself.
Anyway, on to the good stuff. Puppies have been leaving. It's so bittersweet. We do get attached but there is a definite joy watching them get settled in their new homes. (We get pictures and videos which we greatly appreciate... feel free to send them any time... we don't ask for them as we figure it is up to the new owners to share when and if they want.) Chase is the last Havanese puppy left. He is $800 and ready for his new home and forever family. He seems to be very laid back and sweet, loving his toys.

August 21st, 20228/21/2022 Asher is a very sweet boy. He is the smallest in his litter, but is full of personality. I think he'd make an excellent hiking buddy or walking partner. He seems to crave attention, but not in a "in your face" kind of way. Asher always seems to be wesring a smile. He does show some interest in the livestock, but I don't feel like he thrives on the livestock intersctions, as Axel does. This boy has beautiful markings and needs a buddy of his own. Please ask us more about him.

August 20th, 20228/20/2022 Axel is an Everly & Tomac puppy. As a farm owner, Axel is everything I'd want in a dog. He's calm and attentive. He is all about the livestock. He waits for me to come out and do chores. He loves watching the chickens and will herd them around at times. He also has interest in the mini horses, goats and mini donkeys. He definitely has a herding drive that I believe could be taken and turned into something amazing.
Not only does Axel seem to have a natural desire to herd, he is also beautiful. If there is anyway I could make the logistics work, he'd stay here. I just feel he is an awesome puppy and he needs a new farm to live at. Please let us know if you're interested in this stunning boy.

August 20th, 20228/20/2022 So Facebook has decided I violated the community standards with puppy pictures and I've been dancing around their "standards" for quite some time now. When I started my farm page there were no rules against animals postings, now the rules are endless and it makes life quite frustrating. So while I'm in FB jail I'm going to maybe try this whole blogging thing and see if I eventually can't get people directed here to see pictures and posts. Another added benefit is that I may start keeping my website updated more. :) I can tell it's going to take me awhile to get used to this... so we will see how it goes. But at least it will be a "backup" option. Yesterday Esther's babies turned 6 weeks old. They are a sweet bunch themselves. Here are some pictures of them. Twix is still looking for a home. He is a beautiful boy who is going to be quite big I believe. He is a very mellow guy at this time. Reeses is also still looking for a home. He's super sweet and usually comes and finds me wherever I am. He seems to be taking a special interest in the livestock. Muskateer is a tiny little guy. He is my children's favorite from this litter. He is spunky and seems to love to play with toys. He's looking for a family to call his own. Crunch used to not get my attention much, but lately I find him always making me smile. Lots of sweet personality in this boy. He is needing a family to call his own. Snickers is another sweet boy. He seems to be quiet and sweet. I don't see him rough-housing as much as some of the other babies. He's also still looking for his forever family. These 5 babies have their forever families waiting for them. They are all so sweet. Kitkat is one of the biggest and seems to be a bit adventurous. Kiss is extremely mellow and sweet. They are all starting to develop their own personalities and it's so fun to watch.
