Chickens, Ducks & Eggs
Svart Hona is one breed of hatching eggs & chicks we will offer in the spring; March-April, starting 2018. PLEASE NOTE- I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING ENDLESS CALLS AND EMAILS REGARDING MY SVART HONA EGGS AND CHICKS. SADLY MY FLOCK WAS WIPED OUT IN THE FALL OF 2019. WE ARE STILL WORKING TO REBUILD OUR FLOCK AS OF THE SPRING OF 2021. SO SORRY FOR THE INCONVIENCE. Svart Hona- also known as the Swedish Black Hen- is a pure black chicken. It is a sturdier and more cold-hardy chicken than its cousin the Ayam Cemani. The Svart Hona Chickens have a fibromelanistic trait that causes virtually every physical feature, both inside and out, to be black! They are gorgeous, medium sized chickens that lay small off-white eggs.
Silkie |
We will also offer Silkie hatching eggs and chicks in the months of April-May. They are adorable little guys, being only "Bantam" in size. They lay very small eggs and the hens tend to get very broody! I need to write, with great sadness that we lost all of our silkie hens this summer (2018) but we hatched out new ones in the spring of 2020. They are our favorite chickens. We have been producing silkie hatching eggs and chicks as of the spring of 2021. Ask us about availability.
CURRENTLY I DON'T HAVE ANY BREEDING AMERAUCANAS SPRING 2021. We will also offer Ameraucana hatching eggs and chicks; March-May. Ameraucana's are blue egg layers (Not to be confused with Easter Eggers). They are also a very broody breed, that have "muffs" and a "beard". They are a very hardy breed, that is quite sweet! One of my daughter's favorite breeds!
The beautiful blue laced red Wyandotte chickens also grace our farm with their unique coloring. We have several Maran chickens as well, laying their beautiful Chocolate colored eggs for our enjoyment. These beautiful varieties are accompanied by several other breeds of hens, providing us with all the eggs we can eat and lots of extras! Pleas ask about our farm fresh chicken eggs any time! They will be $3 a dozen!
Cayuga Ducks
We are truly delighted to be adding these beautiful ducks to our farm in May of 2017! With their rich black coloring that shines an iridescent green in the sunshine, these birds grace the property with a beauty all their own! They lay very dark eggs, ranging from black to a grey slate as the laying season goes on! We will have hatching eggs, ducklings and fresh eggs for your enjoyment with varying availability! Please ask us if you are interested in hatching or eating eggs, or a beautiful pair of black ducklings in the spring! New hatches underway currently!!!
